This brochure on finances may be different from those you normally see. Most schools offering information concerning a vast number of government grants and loans that are available to those who qualify. Others offer some basic scholarships to a select number of students who meet certain qualifications.

At Southland, our approach is to make the training affordable to all who desire to serve the Lord. We are a non-profit educational institution. No such institution expects its students to pay the entire cost of their education. Southland relies on the support of interested churches and individuals to help finance our ministry.

In addition, our faculty and staff are all full support missionaries. Their “salaries” are based on the gifts of God’s people who are convinced of the importance of their work. In this way, the students are not paying inflated tuition and related fees. They also gain the advantage of seeing missionaries ministering on a daily basis.

Our goal is to make available an excellent quality Bible education and ministry training within the financial reach of anyone who desires it, especially for those here in the Appalachian region. Any student who is willing to work hard is able to attend Southland Bible Institute.

To be specific, the costs of training at Southland are as follows:

• Registration fee: $25.00
• Class fees per semester hour: $25.00
• Textbooks: Cost varies
• Room and Board (Full Time)
  Single resident students per month: $1050.00
• Rent: married student residence per month: $200.00 (Plus utilities)
• Married students may enjoy meals with the Southland family at a cost of $2.00 per meal, or purchase of a monthly meal ticket for $120.00.

• Room & board: $1050.00
  (includes 3 meals/day, rent, electric, water)
• Total: $1475.00 (Estimate plus textbooks)

• Total $425.00 (Estimate plus textbooks)

• Registration $25.00
• Class fees (3 semester hours) $75.00
• TOTAL $100.00 (Estimate plus textbooks)

We realize that cost is not the only factor when choosing a school, nor is it even the most important. We also realize that it is a factor that parents and prospective students must consider. We want you to know that we offer an alternative to the usual high cost institutions that often rely on government financing to stay in business. We keep our costs affordable without compromising the quality of training. We praise God that He has made this possible.
